Middle Schools

Grand Avenue Middle School  (7-8)
Grand Avenue is a comprehensive school offering all students a superior academic program supporting individual needs and differences by promoting enrichment opportunities in the arts, extracurricular activities, and athletics. The development of the entire child is a major importance at Grand Avenue. By the example of each adult in the building, students are exposed to kindness and fairness as well as a willingness to listen without passing judgment. Above all, students are challenged to put aside differences with the goal of turning mere tolerance into acceptance of all. We work diligently to ensure that all students learn well, stay safe, and graduate by being faithful to the tenets of R.I.C.E. (respect, impulse control, compassion, equity).

Martin Avenue Elementary School  (K-6)
As we approach Martin Avenue School from the south, the wonderful sign for Bellmore Village , which proclaims "a stroll down memory lane", greets us. For me, that sign suggests an image of a simpler, more peaceful time. It suggests a time when communities were small and close knit; a time when families and educators worked together to instill basic values of academic mastery, respectful behavior, and strong character in our children. Today, although we live in a complex, fast-paced, and challenging world, I am so proud that these values are alive and well in our Martin Avenue community of teachers, students, and families.

Newbridge Road Elementary School  (K-6)
Newbridge Road Elementary School houses 430 students in full day kindergarten through grade six program. We believe that children can reach their potential with a positive learning environment filled with educational excellence and opportunities for hands on experimentation. We engage students in literacy activities in all grades using literature that is leveled and chosen especially for them. A new district wide initiative, Step Up to Writing, promotes student writing that supports multiple writing styles, language development, grammar, punctuation and the writing process. Our math adventures include manipulatives that challenge students to use their critical thinking skills. Our classrooms have computers that encourage students to extend their knowledge and competency in technology. All students receive art, music, library and physical education. Our winter and spring musical concerts provide an opportunity for our talented students to share their skills with the community.

Park Avenue Elementary School
(K-6)
The topic of discipline is of great concern to parents and educators throughout American schools. I suggest that we look at this concept with a different understanding.  As you know, Park Pride stands for Warm, Nurturing and Challenging. When a school environment embodies interesting lessons that enrich, within a positive climate which dignifies all children's efforts, you have something special. This type of classroom/school focuses upon what can be achieved, and naturally eliminates the negative stereotype of discipline which many of us grew up with.   However, this is not to say that we accept bullying, throwing food in the cafeteria or hitting.
