Garden City Schools- The New York State Education Department recently announced that the Garden City Public Schools has once again been designated a "High Performing/Gap Closing School District" due to the outstanding results achieved by students in the areas of English language arts, mathematics and science, as well as the district´s high school graduation rate. In addition, our school district has been selected as a "GoldMedalSchool District" by Expansion Management, a consulting firm that helps corporations with their relocation plans. The Gold Medal award, the highest ranking possible, means that Garden City is rated among the top 16% of school districts in the country. Elmont Schools - Located on the Queens/Nassau border, the Elmont Union Free School District is comprised of six elementary schools providing a comprehensive pre-kindergarten to sixth-grade program for children from varied backgrounds and international origins. Our educational approach focuses not only on meeting and exceeding state standards, but also on developing reasoning, decision-making, and citizenship skills in an environment that is safe and conducive to learning. School administrators maintain close partnerships with parents, community organizations and local elected officials as they prepare youngsters to take on the roles of citizen, neighbor and responsible, caring adult.

As a public school, GCMS has an open admission policy. All validated residents of the Garden City community are eligible to attend GCMS. Students may enter at any time throughout the school year. Academic placement decisions are made through careful examination of a student´s previous academic record and parent input.

Dutch Broadway Elementary School (K-6) Dutch Broadway enrolls Elmont´s largest school population, and continues to grow. Our students enjoy meaningful interaction among classes and with teachers and staff. And, we are happy to report the completion of our beautiful primary playground. The principal meets regularly with each teacher, as well as weekly in grade-level meetings to discuss goals, curriculum, and teacher-student relationship building. Gotham Avenue Elementary School (K-6) The Gotham Avenue School began operation in January of 1950. It originally had 13 classrooms. Eight rooms were added in the 1950´s and twelve more were added in 2001. Miss Clara H. Carlson was the school´s first principal. Clara H. Carlson Elementary School (K-6) The Clara H. Carlson School is the second largest elementary setting in the Elmont Union Free School District. Housing approximately 38 classes, the Carlson School offers a variety of curricular and extra-curricular activities designed to help students meet and surpass New York State Learning Standards. Part of the Elmont Union Free School District, our student body comes from the four surrounding communities of Elmont, New Hyde Park, South Floral Park and Stewart Manor. There are two classes on each grade level, from kindergarten to grade six. Our pre-kindergarten program for four-year-olds meets two and a half hours per day, five days a week. There are morning and afternoon sessions. Our staff of dedicated professionals work closely with our school support team in helping students reach their academic potentials as they meet and exceed New York State learning standards. Stewart Manor offers opportunities for students to develop their skills in the arts with extensive music, art and physical education programs. Morning and afternoon club offerings provide enrichment in every area for students. An active PTA sponsors an extensive cultural arts program that compliments classroom instruction and adheres to learning standards.
