Depending Upon the Homeowners Location, Some Residents Utilize Franklin Square Schools Instead of Garden City Schools.

Garden City Schools
-  The New York State Education Department recently announced that the Garden City Public Schools has once again been designated a "High Performing/Gap Closing School District" due to the outstanding results achieved by students in the areas of English language arts, mathematics and science, as well as the district´s high school graduation rate. In addition, our school district has been selected as a "Gold Medal School District" by Expansion Management, a consulting firm that helps corporations with their relocation plans. The Gold Medal award, the highest ranking possible, means that Garden City is rated among the top 16% of school districts in the country.

Franklin Square Schools - Franklin Square Schools are committed to educating elementary students by providing a productive learning environment in cooperation with family so that each child is given a solid Foundation for Success in order to become a contributory member of the community by learning, growing and reaching his/her potential.

Garden City High School  (9-12)
Garden City HS offers electives in Architectural Drawing and Automated Accounting. Garden City HS is accredited by the Middle States Association of Schools and Colleges.

H. Franklin Carey High School   (7-12)
H. Frank Carey High School is one of five high schools in the Sewanhaka Central High School District of Nassau County.  Carey High School is a junior/senior high school with grades 7-12.  Total population is approximately 1,800 students from surrounding communities such Garden City South, West Hempstead, Elmont, and Franklin Square.  Carey is located in the small Long Island town of Franklin Square, and has become one of the center points of community interaction.  From sports events to club sponsored activities, and don't forget the learning experience, Carey is always busy with many things to see and participate in.

As a public school, GCMS has an open admission policy. All validated residents of the Garden City community are eligible to attend GCMS. Students may enter at any time throughout the school year. Academic placement decisions are made through careful examination of a student´s previous academic record and parent input.

The Polk Street School community is comprised of over 634 students who strive to reach our high expectations for academic achievement and good character, a staff that cares about each and every child and works extremely hard to facilitate students´ success, and parents who are very involved and supportive of our school.
