Elmont Schools

Depending Upon the Homeowners Location, Many Elmont Residents Utilize Sewanahaka, Franklin Square or Valley Stream Schools Instead of Elmont Schools.
Elmont Schools - Located on the Queens/Nassau border, the Elmont Union Free School District is comprised of six elementary schools providing a comprehensive pre-kindergarten to sixth-grade program for children from varied backgrounds and international origins. Our educational approach focuses not only on meeting and exceeding state standards, but also on developing reasoning, decision-making, and citizenship skills in an environment that is safe and conducive to learning. School administrators maintain close partnerships with parents, community organizations and local elected officials as they prepare youngsters to take on the roles of citizen, neighbor and responsible, caring adult.

Sewanhaka Schools
 -  The Sewanhaka Central High School District was founded in 1926 as a "Central High School" to serve the then sparsely populated communities that made up part of Nassau County.  By the late 1950´s, the post war baby boom had changed the single high school into a Central High School District with five buildings, serving students in grades 7 through 12.  Located in the western portion of Nassau County, bordering the New York City borough of Queens, the District is the residence of roughly 135,000 people in four local communities: Floral Park/Bellerose, New Hyde Park/Garden City Park, Franklin Square and Elmont.  Each community supports a component elementary district and sends two trustees to the Sewanhaka Board of Education.  The five district high schools are home to over 8,600 students and 700 professional staff.  Though the income range is wide, the people are primarily homeowners and taxpayers and share a fierce pride in the quality of their individual schools.

Franklin Square Schools - The Franklin Square School District is committed to educating elementary students by providing a productive learning environment in cooperation with family so that each child is given a solid Foundation for Success in order to become a contributory member of the community by learning, growing and reaching his/her potential.

Valley Stream School District #13 - Valley Stream School District #13, believes that children should be at the center of the learning process. Children learn best by constructing new understanding of the world around them, its relationships and phenomena. This "constructivist" approach to student learning values pupils' points of view and encourages children to interact with the curriculum in personally meaningful ways. In this fashion, children become lifelong learners, well prepared for later school experiences as well as the adult work force.
