Depending Upon the Homeowners Location, Some Valley Stream Residents Utilize Elmont, Hewlett-Woodmere or Franklin Square Schools.


Valley Stream Schools
 - The Valley Stream Central High School District is one of only three New York State Districts covering grades 7-12 exclusively. The District operates one junior high school for grades 7-9 (Memorial Junior High School); one senior high school for grades 10-12 (Central High School); and two combined junior and senior high schools for grades 7 -12 (North High School and South High School). The four buildings are located on approximately 58 acres of land.

Elmont School District - Located on the Queens/Nassau border, the Elmont Union Free School District is comprised of six elementary schools providing a comprehensive pre-kindergarten to sixth-grade program for children from varied backgrounds and international origins. Our educational approach focuses not only on meeting and exceeding state standards, but also on developing reasoning, decision-making, and citizenship skills in an environment that is safe and conducive to learning. School administrators maintain close partnerships with parents, community organizations and local elected officials as they prepare youngsters to take on the roles of citizen, neighbor and responsible, caring adult.


Hewlett-Woodmere Schools -   Hewlett-Woodmere is a vibrant, caring, learning community offering a broad range of programs and services. From a highly recognized pre-kindergarten program to a high school that has a 99% graduation rate with students that go on to attend many of the most prestigious colleges and universities in the nation, Hewlett-Woodmere students at all levels are afforded opportunities in the "4 As" ? Academics, Arts, Athletics & Activities. Ours is also a community that is dedicated to supporting and servicing our students with special needs.

Franklin Square Schools -  The Franklin Square School District is committed to educating elementary students by providing a productive learning environment in cooperation with family so that each child is given a solid Foundation for Success in order to become a contributory member of the community by learning, growing and reaching his/her potential.

Valley Stream North High School  (10-12)
Welcome to the North High School webpage. Valley Stream North High School has a proud tradition of student achievement both in and out of the classroom. The building encompasses grades 7-12 which allows for diverse and interesting course offerings and co-curricular activities. Students can take advantage of the academic, artistic, vocational, performing arts and athletic programs that provide both a rewarding and enriching junior-senior high school experience.

H. Franklin Carey High School   (7-12)
H. Frank Carey High School is one of five high schools in the Sewanhaka Central High School District of Nassau County.  Carey High School is a junior/senior high school with grades 7-12.  Total population is approximately 1,800 students from surrounding communities such Garden City South, West Hempstead, Elmont, and Franklin Square.  Carey is located in the small Long Island town of Franklin Square, and has become one of the center points of community interaction.  From sports events to club sponsored activities, and don't forget the learning experience, Carey is always busy with many things to see and participate in.

Gotham Avenue Elementary School  (K-6)
The Gotham Avenue School began operation in January of 1950. It originally had 13 classrooms. Eight rooms were added in the 1950´s and twelve more were added in 2001. Miss Clara H. Carlson was the school´s first principal. Geographically, it is the closest school to Belmont Racetrack, and is also very close to Hempstead Turnpike.
